If you haven’t considered a government job, you should definitely make it part of your job search.  U.S. government jobs provide relatively secure employment, good benefits and lucrative pay. Some of the positions, like deputy associate director for global operations, pay as much as $155,500 a year.

With stepped-up efforts to secure the U.S. against terrorism threat, security-related government jobs are still in very high demand. The Departments of Defense and Homeland Security alone are expected to offer more than 83,000 new jobs. Over 15,000 new Customs and Border Patrol agents and 22,000 TSA (Transportation Security Agency) workers are expected to be hired over the coming years.

United States citizenship is required for most Federal positions. If you are not a citizen of the United States, you cannot apply or be considered for most positions in the Federal government. However, some agencies can and do hire non-citizens through special hiring procedures. If you are a non-citizen, you would need to contact agencies directly to find out if you are eligible for any positions that they may have. You can use the agency list at http://www.usa.gov/ to obtain contact information for each agency.
Generally, applicants for most Federal jobs must be at least 18 years old. Some positions, like those in law enforcement have a maximum entry age and the age may vary, but generally falls within the range 34 yrs to 37 yrs
