    CAREER HISTORY 

    – Six months employment with the Royal Air Force of Oman supervising aircraft flight servicing and flight safety. Ensuring correct RAFO work practices were continuously maintained as well as st line maintenance, modifications, troubleshooting and calibration of all avionic equipment. I was required to undertake onthejob training, mentoring, and supervision of Omani personnel during the normal course of my duties. 

    – Army Base Repair Organisation ABRO in Mönchengladbach, as the security cleared, Conversion Acceptance Test CAT Inspector. Promoted to the Chief CAT Inspector after months. 

    The primary task was to assign up to six inspection teams to carry out tests to the BOWMAN secure digital communications system on Army vehicles and to carryout modifications and calibrations as required while ensuring correct safety and working practices are maintained. Coordinate support by ensuring detailed records of the work carried out are recorded, signed for and then to officially return the vehicles back to the Army. 

    – Employed at Fairchild Dornier, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany as an avionics engineering technician providing technical assistance on various types of light aircraft.

    – Royal Air Force Engineering Technician Avionics Electronic Engineering Squadron, RAF Brüggen, Germany.  –  

    Two years in nd line management of the flight systems bay, coordinating support operations by ensuring detailed records of work carried out, replacement materials and manhours are recorded, providing assistance to tradesman, responsible for quality control and oversignatures of trade work carried out. Supervising, inspecting and directing work undertaken by subordinates, providing nd line schedule maintenance, modifications, calibrations, troubleshooting, rectification and acceptance checks of all navigation, weapon aiming and flying control systems equipment belonging to the avionics suite of the Tornado aircraft and returning them to service and providing technical and logistics support to the end user.

    No. Fighter Squadron, RAF Laarbruch, Germany.   –  

    Served five years on an exceptionally busy front line fast jet Harrier squadron in Germany, employed as a st line manager, close monitoring of subordinates carrying out aircraft flight servicing and flight safety duties, ensuring correct RAF work practices were constantly maintained, secondary responsibility was for the squadron air publications library. 

    Substitute shift trade manager, involving management of RAF personnel and resources, supervising and overseeing the performance of shift personnel with regards to aircraft fault priority, quality and tool control, aircraft and hanger husbandry and relevant documentation and, in so doing, being aware of the governing regulations and signature implications, as well as st line maintenance, modifications, troubleshooting and calibrations of all air communications, GPS, navigation, weapon aiming and flying control systems on the avionics suite, on both the Harrier GR and T aircraft often in very remote and arduous conditions.

    Electronic Warfare and Aviation Unit, RAF Wyton.   –  

    Six years in the interim maintenance bay, employed to carryout research and development on the electronic, avionics and communications interim support defence equipment of the Nimrod R, SSR Aircraft, and the Nimrod R, Rear Crew Trainer equipment. Primary engineering responsibilities included:  

    Collecting, arranging, analysing technical and numerical data, checking for accuracy and implementing modifications, ensuring detailed records of work carried out and manhours are recorded. Preliminary building, testing and calibration of these interim support equipment’s, as well as incorporation of detailed modifications and RAF Service Technical Instructions. 

    While at RAF Wyton, was sent on a detachment to maintain the Nimrod R Aircraft’s interim support equipment in theatre during the Gulf war. 

    – Seven years in British Telecomms before leaving to join the Royal Air Force. 

    Completed a threeyear telecommunication technician apprenticeship in central London. Employed at Installing, troubleshooting and rectifying complex faults on a variety of customer’s telephone lines, PABX’s, PMBX’s and outside broadcast lines for live transmissions as well as on telephone exchange work.
