WORK EXPERIENCE:

May to present resigned from Newport News Shipbuilding / Northrop Grumann to be a full time employ of Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding , Abu Dhabi, UAE assuming the position of Program Manager for the complex Baynunah Program meter Corvettes for the UAE Naval Forces 

Current Position: Program Manager

Full responsibility to manage all aspects of the Program inclusive of the practical application of strategic and tactical planning, shipyard and operations management, project budget / cost management and contract management through a Program Office PMO concept in Abu Dhabi for Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding ADSB, where new construction complex Baynunah Class, meter Fast Corvettes for the UAE GHQ Naval Forces are currently under construction in various stages of completion. Support the overseeing role in Cherbourg France at CMN Construction Mechanique de Normandy shipyard, which included initially living in France for one year where the First of class is being constructed. Full interface with the UAE Navy client is performed on a daily basis and with formal elaborate reporting and presentations given on a biweekly and monthly basis. 

Further duties are inclusive of management of the complete Contract and Subcontract cycle for the program main supplier base of over major subcontracts Platform and Combat Systems, the Prime Contract with UAE GHQ and the subcontract between our copartner / subcontractor / designer and builder of the FOC first of class, Construction Mechanique de Normandie CMN in France and of Configuration control and Change management. 

Full Program Cost management, Milestone management payments in and outflows with financial cash flow modeling, monitoring, reporting and control of the multi Billion AED program budgets for Non recurring and Recurring labor and Materials are also under my responsibility along with the operation of the Program Management Office PMO This includes an integrated concept having planners, materials engineers, buyers, ILS engineers, Combat System engineers, Project construction team Supervisors and Superintendents, Project Managers, etc. all working together in one Office. 

Responsible for Baynunah program TOT Transfer of Technology and the proper implementation in Abu Dhabi and includes the coordination of all deliverables of the Technical Data Packages, Equipments and specific project materials, BOM, Services, Drawings / Documentation / QC procedures, etc relevant to construct the vessels. This responsibility also includes an additional dynamic of coordinating the ADSB selected employees being sent to and returning from France, their logistic support whilst in France and the comprehensive monitoring and cataloguing of their relevant TOT experience gained and thus formally captured for the future benefit of ADSB upon their return. The coordination of the CMN Technical assistance team personnel which support the vessels onsite construction requirements in Abu Dhabi with ADSB personnel, ensuring smooth and successful information transition and technical compliance are included.

Development of the Program scheduling requirements, vessel construction build strategies and Facility workshops and tooling compatibility requirements and readiness and footprint analysis through the joint involvement and coordination of Project and Planning teams with the follow on implementation, monitoring and management of the Program schedule progress is coordinated through my PMO office. 
 
 

Notable Accomplishment:  

Accomplished the very difficult task of developing the Preliminary and Final design of the Baynunah Corvette vessel Platform Hull, Superstructure and Major Systems in concert with the UAE Naval forces project team, whilst working directly with the CMN shipyard copartner team onsite in France in a joint project team concept for the period of to .  This required me to live in France during this period and set up the ADSB shipyard presence, project teams and offices, eventually to gain the formal approval of the vessels design from the UAE Navy client and the LRS class society under their Naval Rules of .  The Baynunah Program is very complex and dynamic being currently on track both budget and schedule wise. Launch of the FOC vessel was accomplished in June and the ADSB nd of class was launched in July and exhibited in the UAE IDEX / NAVDEX in Feb . The ADSB rd of Class was launched in April .

Shipyard Outfitting Superintendent / Project Manager Ghannatha Program meter Aluminum Amphibious High Speed Troop Carriers for the UAE Naval Forces

Newport News Shipbuilding / Northrop Grumann /Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding 

Outfitting Superintendent for all shipyard Outfitting trades plus employees Electrical, Piping, Insulation, Carpentry, Painting, Sheet metal, Machinists, HVAC, Millwrights, Calibration Lab for the support of all ADSB operations inclusive of the following Product lines Naval New Construction, Naval Refit, Commercial New Construction and Commercial Refit/Repair. Vessel types include multiple meter and meter Landing Crafts new construction for the UAE Navy, new construction Amphibious meter fast speed troop carriers and Assault boats, new construction Oil and Water carriers, new construction Dredger, new construction Multi – Cats & Tug Boats of all types for local clients and UAE Coast Guard, other new builds for the UAEN and private sector, UAE Navy Corvette and Patrol boat naval refits, various ship repair operations for all local clients NMS, NMDC, Esnaad, etc. 

In parallel served as Project Manager responsible for the new construction, test and trials and final delivery to the UAE Naval Forces of complex, meter Aluminum Amphibious High Speed Troop Carriers, of which were constructed in Sweden under a transfer of technology agreement in concert with our strategic partner Swedeship Marine with the UAE Navy client onsite.

Project Supervisor

Mobilized from Newport News Shipbuilding / Northrop Grumann however remained under their employment as subcontracted to Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding as a Project Supervisor with focus on Electrical systems to plan and undertake the mid life refit of the UAE Naval Forces TNC / Top Speed Naval Craft meter Missile Patrol Boats for the complete upgrade / refit of their Hulls, Superstructures, Auxiliaries and Compartments including the upgrade of the Combat Systems including testing, trials and final acceptance / redelivery to the UAE Navy client. In parallel I was deeply involved with the facilities set up and management of yard and trades operations generally of the newly formed Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding company as an offsets venture which included upgrading and construction of entire new facilities at the existing yard site in Abu Dhabi Mussafah.

General Foreman Electrical

Fully responsible for the construction of the Electrical installations ie; Weapons, Combat Systems, Switch gear / Power distribution networks, Nuclear installations, Intercommunications, Sonar, Radar, etc. test and trials and final delivery to the US Navy client for the Fast Attack Los Angeles Class Submarine vessel new construction program with corresponding responsibility for employees, project management, strategic – tactical planning and production support operations. During this period also was responsible for special project work related to the US Navy Seals and special Navy projects around the world including fleet maintenance / repair requirements and Tiger Teams.

Fully responsible for the Electrical section installations for; Machinery spaces, Living Spaces, Electronic Spaces, Auxiliaries, Engine Room, Switchgear and Power distribution, Nuclear Reactors, Combat Systems and Weapons on Newport News Shipbuilding Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier and Los Angeles Class Nuclear Attack Submarines and other New construction projects. In promoted to Electrical foreman after a successful apprenticeship graduation, being responsible for the electrical installations for the Virginia Class Guided Missile Frigate New Construction Program for the US Navy. Chosen shortly after promotion to Foreman to attend advanced management training for Newport News Shipbuilding / Northrop Grumann which carried with it rotation through all of the companies major management sectors and when completed the accompanying college degree in Industrial Management was obtained and promotion to Supervisor and eventually General Foreman was granted.

Served year apprenticeship in Marine Electrical and Marine Engineering at Newport News Shipbuilding / Northrop Grumann and along with classroom college accredited course rotation through all major company product lines inclusive of, LNG’s, Submarines, Guided Missile Frigates, Shops, Aircraft Carriers, Safety, Production Planning and a year assignment of mechanical drawing in the Companies electrical design offices and was promoted to Foreman Electrical in at graduation.

Accomplishment:

Prior to becoming Baynunah Program Manager in , held the responsibility as Project Manager for the construction of complex meter Aluminum Amphibious High Speed Troop Transports known as Program Ghannatha, which were constructed under my direct guidance / management and final delivered to the UAE Naval forces in .  

As vessels were constructed in Sweden with one of ADSB’s strategic partner shipyards “Swedeship Marine”, I traveled and worked in Sweden over this course of time following the construction, test and trials and acceptance process of those vessels until final delivery to the client was successfully accomplished, ahead of time and under budget. I received the ADSB CEO Achievement award of excellence for this accomplishment. ILS and Training with the UAE Navy crews was also part of the scope of my assignment and responsibility. This was a transfer of technology program.  

Additional Duties:

BV QI ISO / Audit coordinator for the programs assigned. Develop various procedures and plans specific to the program in concert with the Quality department and class society LRS under their naval ship rules. 

Develop CAPEX and the AOP inputs for the companies strategic financial planning considering the implications of the Baynunah Program which made up more then % of the companies yearly projected earnings. 

Support on the job Training of young UAE Nationals in concert with the High College of Technology graduate program. 

Serve as Technical advisor for Test and Trials and Acceptance Philosophy for the ADSB Programs and Operations division inclusive of both writing Test procedures and plans with hands on execution support. 

Program TOT coordinator and advisor.
