    Program name:   ICAA ANDEAN AMAZON CONSERVATION INITIATIVE PERU MadidiManu Conservation Complex

    This program manages million of hectares located between the Peruvian and Bolivian Amazon and is designed to sustainably conserve the use of Non Timber Forest Products NTFPs by local communities such as indigenous groups and settlers.

    The program involves managing water resources, implementing conservation policies with regional governments and sourcing the local community’s water and social grants.

    With a budget of US $ Million and professionals in the team I liaised with the donors and consortia members.  

        

        USAID ARD MIDAS COLOMBIA FORESTRY COMPONENT MANAGER  

    MIDAS is a fiveyear   Millions USA and staff members  USAIDfunded program launched in aimed at creating alternative development opportunities to illicit crop production in Colombia, especially for vulnerable populations. This included poor Peasant, Indigenous, Afrodescendent, and Internally Displaced groups living in remote areas where the state presence is minimal or nonexistent. The plan was to address the forestry development in Colombia including natural resources conservation focusing on watershed integration policy management.

       MIDAS was divided into four technical components—SME, Policy, Agribusiness, and

    Commercial Forestry.

         
     

    – KFW –National Program to Conserve the Atlantic Brazilian Rain Forest Rio De Janeiro Brazil PPMT, BRAZIL Program international Director

    I was responsible for administrative and financial management including Full Project cycle management and supervision. With Million  Euros funding and professionals

    My Duties as a Team leader included: orienting the negotiation process with other partners for sourcing and allocating funds. This involved conducting multidisciplinary, working groups.

    Consultancy Services Company:  I worked in the preparation of short term Consultancies for AUSAID, KfW, DFID, and USAID contractors and subcontractors in Papua New Guinea Health Development Program funded by AUSAID and Australia.

    This position involved the promotion of Brazilian NTFPs and Timber products within the Pacific Rim leading to the first product importation to Queensland Australia.  

    – DFID Department for International Development UK PPG Pilot Program to Conserve the Amazonian Rainforest   BRAZIL Senior Environmental Adviser 

    My major role was in restructuring the environmental institutions to enable the introduction of a concession system and integrated sustainable natural resources management. Achievements included: 

  • The issuing of a new Forest Law. This law incorporated new regulations for water use in the Amazonian context
  • Review and issuing of a new State Environmental Law
  • Design and formulation of the new Economical and Ecological Zoningland tenure clarification within Indigenous lands. This resulted in ,, hectares being incorporated to the State Economy
  • Development of the new Institution FEMACT with a poorcentered approach. This Institution manages natural resources including a set of Forestry Concessions – a clear Formulation of Policy Base for Sustainable Management was achieved. I was author of the original White Paper Policy
  • Designed, formulated and executed a funded program achieving a substantial Forest Fires reduction of %.
  • Long history of illegal logging curbed in record time due to the new polices % Illegal Forestry Transport was stopped
  • In the project received the Grand Prize for Best Ecology Project in Brazil from the magazine SuperInteressante.

    – ODA LTS DFID Indonesia Tropical Forest Management Program, INDONESIA Provincial Project Forestry Adviser 

    I Worked with Barito Pacific Group on meeting industrial standards ISO and Integrated Forestry concession system applications for SFM; other achievements were:

  • Land Tenure Policy formulation and negotiation: Resolved a long history of conflict negotiations between logging companies and local Indigenous communities; this was achieved in a short time seven months
  • Sponsored by Timber Companies Planned and launched the Sustainable Livelihoods Program in Jambi Sumatra. Achieved boundary demarcation and negotiation
  • Creation of the Integrated Water Forestry Concessions in Sumatra including the Revision of the forestry laws in two years
