Electrical Commissioning Supervisor : Pacific Drilling, South Korea;
Supervised the Construction and Commissioning of four Drill ships being built at the Samsung
shipyard. Organised and scheduled commissioning teams to complete inspection and verification
of all E&I systems in line with ABS Class and Client Chevron, Total and Petrobras
Systems included; Chevron; Dual Gradient Drilling, I/O Interface NOV /Kongsberg with IAS,

My work scope included coordinating the commissioning teams to resolve engineering issues
before final hand over. This involved acceptance testing, compiling punch lists and verification of
documents to both Client and ABS Classification. With a knowledge of IEC and Australian
standards, systems such as relay coordination settings, together with verification of design
philosophies and calculations, production of site instructions, supervised the production of ‘As
built’ documentation and general liaison and acceptance with Client / Class over technical

Responsible for Liaison between client, ABS and commissioning teams, Project consists of
modules, Accommodation and an Ehouse. Network analyses of the electrical installation ETAP
specifications, data sheets, requisitions and bid evaluations. Working closely with the Client to a
fast track program. Power system includes; x MW, kV Steam generators, MVA
Delta/Delta dry type transformers, kV soft starters and the usual V switchgear – MCC’s,

I was responsible for finalising the design and setting up commissioning procedures of electrical
installation. The role necessitated checking the design against Shell standards DEP’s logging of
Test reports and scheduling the commissioning for final handover. Attending FAT’s for a MVA
emergency diesel generator, kV & .kV switchboards, and MVA transformers.

Joined project at concept stage and followed through to construction. As assistant to the principle
electrical engineer I was responsible for coordinating the overall electrical design with other
disciplines to produce a PDMS model, layout drawings, load schedule, cable schedule, SLD,
purchase requisitions and site liaison. The electrical element comprising of kV switchgear,
MVA transformer, kV VSD compressor drives, MW generator and the usual assortment of
V switchgear.
