I am passionate about computers. I want to help push the world forward into a new open
frontier where everyone has complete control over their computers and so their lives. I am
a massive fan of the Free Software movement and try to make use of it as much as
possible. I enjoy using GNU/Linux on a daily basis, and I hope to share my enjoyment
with others. I currently enjoy programming in C and Ruby during my spare time.
Ever since I was a child I have had a massive interest in Asia. However it wasn’t until I got
older I could focus my efforts on living in abroad and studying Korean.
During my time in Korea I feel that I have learnt a lot, and grown as a person.

Gwanghee English Centre is the largest school of a pilot scheme in Seoul to help
underprivileged students study English. The main role is to give English conversation
classes. The duties also include planning and giving the lessons, in addition to grading,
testing, caring for students and event planning. Events include English camps, plays and

My main responsibilities included project design, management, implementation as well as
database design and implementation. The applications created generally consisted of a
Windows based customer and job management system, with a Windows Mobile based job
completion engine, with webmethod data synchronisation between them. I was involved
in creating a new Windows Mobile framework to speed up the development of future
Windows Mobile projects.

I studied Computing Science with industrial experience at The University of Manchester.
The course focused on hardware design, software lifecycle, enterprise management, and
problem solving. The programming languages studied included Java, C and .Net. My
dissertation "Database Reverse Engineering" focused on analysing the data in a database
in order to understand the structure of the system that created it.

During my spare time I enjoy programming, creating modified versions of open source
software to match my personal needs and desires. My favourite open source application
at the moment is Pidgin IM. I have been working on a few plugins, including a fork of the
NateOn protocol plugin. I am also working on an open source small business accounting
platform written in Ruby.
I also enjoy have a keen interest in amateur electronics. I have worked various electronics
projects such as PIC microprocessors, modifications and repairs.
In my spare time I also enjoy studying Korean. It’s really helpful in my daily life, and helps
me to understand my surroundings better. I hope to eventually take the TOPIK Korean
