    Selected Accomplishments  
    Validated Microcode/Software running EMC’s highend Symmetrix storage units, DMX, VMX: Uncovered and resolved numerous bugs prior to general release. Collaborated with HW/SW development engineering: Testing goal: detect, isolate, track, and fix microcode issues prior to general release; legacy testing. Saved untold customer problems and significant field engineering work. Accelerated test efficiencies reducing test times from weeks to weeks  

    Teamedup with HW Design engineering to repair chipset fault. Found reproducible error in one of EMC’s proprietary chipsets. Worked with Development Engineering to create various test conditions and capture actions. Component reworked, saving potential downtime for Wall Street, airlines and other critical applications.  

    Saved $K with new endoftape marker. Major customer was experiencing severe problems with Quantum DLT tape drives. As Applications Engineer, engaged outside expertise in media and firmware testing to identify root cause. Developed fix for media and worked with vendor team to permanently solve problem. 

    Identified, analyzed and resolved power supply problem. Identified volt DC input problems in Digital’s PDP family of CPU’s. Authored and received approval for Field Change Order to perform full customer swap nationally. Results included less downtime, fewer service calls and nearly $M first year savings.

    Resolved tape drive problems at Gillette account. Performance problems with multiple tape drives at Gillette headquarters came to the attention of Quantum’s Executive VP. Mobilized team and worked with Field Engineering to provide sameday analysis, repair and replacement services. Quick response built credibility with account. Reduced response time for enhancements to microcode issues, increase customer satisfaction

    Developed dust protection system to save $M. Dust buildup was an issue for Digital’s MicroVAX DLT tape units. Worked on development team that successfully designed, fabricated and installed three pilot units. After field trials, new enclosure systems introduced nationally at sites, saving millions in service and hardware costs.
