I am Eugène D., a yearold male, married to Magda and we have a young son named Francois.
Having served the Media group for years, I have now left this organization to offer my services as a
freelance Information Technology consultant with a specialty in IT security.
During the last years at Media I was employed as a security specialist. I interfaced with technology
support teams, business owners, and end customers of the company, group companies, and external entities. I
have in excess of years experience in the management of internet access and security support. I have a
rather diverse skill set and which is only limited by the workload. I specialized in managing risk to a
predictable and acceptable level through the implementation of technical security controls and reporting.
During my employ at Media I was a member of the team that designed, implemented, and managed the
technical and application security controls for Media and its subsidiaries, while also functioning as a
technical resource on the Naspers / MIH / Multichoice group security forum, as well as being the security
consultant for the Naspers head office. I was accountable for implementing and managing IT security
governance controls as required in the SarbanesOxley Section , Cobit and other applicable standards,
assisting with policy management and designing controls to enforce policies. My core skills include IPS,
firewalling, VPN, change management, auditing, antivirus, pen testing, anomaly detection and content
filtering, event correlation, and investigation of internal and external fraud and abuse. I furthermore managed
several projects and designed security systems.
Before making IT security my speciality, I supported a variety of IT environments within the Media group to
ensure a constant business environment. This included building interfaces and support programs to allow data
transfer between diverse systems, programming and scripting, as well as implementing the email and
Microsoft infrastructure inside Media/Naspers.
During the period to before I joined Media/Naspers, I was a entrepreneur, researcher at the
University of Stellenbosch Bureau for Systems Engineering, worked for various divisions of the Armscor group
such as Infoplan, LEW, and Eloptro, as well as Ucor.
