Data Center Operations team is a Backbone for entire GSMC Remote delivery Operations enriched with
infrastructure monitoring Tools, Network/Security Management, Server Management, Database Management,
Service Desk tools, and Inhouse Application Development Teams.
Key Deliverables:
The team handles thousands of devices of almost customers. A new customer and its devices are configured
to be monitored using the following tools. Further issues are handled according to tickets being assigned.
< Ensure Alert availability:
Verified all the monitored devices are successfully communicating with the NNM application.
< Integration to Inhouse monitoring application:
Checked the connection between NNM and Inhouse tools so that alerts reached concerned teams.
< Handle escalated issues from L/L engineers or from OM’s/PM’s & service delivery:
Solved tool based issues that are escalated so that monitoring happens smoothly.
< Installation of SPI/Upgrades/Hot Fixes:
Installed SPI for various monitoring like Oracle, Exchange etc and also installed hot fixes and done
upgradation whenever required along with the help of vendor.
< Followup with vendor for raised issue by team like any bugfixing, hot fix implementation or new
Continuous followup with vendor for certain new requirements like DBSPI User Defined Metrics and bug
< Conduct trend analysis for all incident logs:
Studied incident logged for devices and suggested methods to eliminate future issues.
< Handle the escalated application related calls and ensure RCA is done:
Timely action on assigned calls and completed RCA to ensure better monitoring.
< Create a Knowledge base at Site for all known problems:
For future reference created central knowledge base for all solved issues.
< Contributing the technical papers like SOPs:
Created SOPs for agent installation and similar tasks so that it can be referred in future and to help new

Technical sessions for knowledge sharing among the team.
< Minimize manual effort by automation using shell scripting:
Created scripts so that it reduces manual efforts in daily tasks like reachability check, alert check etc.
HP Open view Network Node Manager

Addition of devices to NNM monitoring and segregation of alerts based on customer, device type etc.
< Custom Map creation:
Sub maps are created to group monitored objects so that maintenance is easy.
< Adding and deleting objects in Map:
Adding monitored devices to certain maps based on device type and customer and removal of
unmonitored devices.
< SNMP configuration:
Configured devices so that information is gather through SNMP agent.
< Event Configuration:
Customized events based on OID and created scripts to generate alerts that matches user
< Data collection and thresholds:
Configured devices to monitored parameters like bandwidth, memory, CPU etc. Alerts are generated
whenever the utilization crosses defined threshold.
< Trap based monitoring:
Load MIB and customize using event configuration and scripts so that alerts are generated according to
the user requirements and to respective domains based on customer, device type etc.
HP Open view Operations Manager on UNIX
< Agent installation, server configuration:
Installation of HPOV agent and configuration of device for HPOV OMU monitoring using the
certificate received. Customized scripts so that alerts are generated based on OS type.
< Service discovery:
Configuration to monitor OS services like RPC, ntp, etc according to user requirement and divert the
alerts using scripts on the basis of OS and application type.
< Adding and deleting servers from monitoring:
Addition and deletion of devices from HPOV OMU based on requests.
< Configuration for monitoring applications like Oracle, MSSQL, Exchange:
Configuration of devices for SPIs such as DBSPI,EXSPI etc so that oracle, MSSQL, Exchange etc are
being monitored along with their required parameters like table space, listener status, chain count, etc
for databases and mailbox performance, mail queue etc for exchange.
< Log file monitoring configuration:
Monitoring of log files based on certain key words.
< Service and process monitoring configuration:
Application, OS related services and process monitoring using the templates.
< Data collection and thresholds:
Monitoring of parameters like CPU, memory, filespace etc. Alerts are generated whenever the utilization
crossed the specified threshold. And divert the alerts based on OS type.
