    Project: FFBA Field Force Business Area, DMS Distribution Management System

    Department: Insurance, Health Care and Life Sciences IHL

    Role: System Engineer

    Duration: Dec to March .

  • DMS is part of a bigger project called Field Force Business Area FFBA undertaken by NM. DMS is concerned mainly with the maintenance of the information for all the agents at personal level along with their licenses and contracts. Data movement across the system happens through various systems of different technologies & nightly Autosys batch jobs. The main challenge in this project is to maintain the data integrity across the system and enhancement of the existing system which changes with daytoday. This project mainly dealt with Clyde Frame Work and MQ based standalone java services and ETLs. It also involves communication with Legacy System leveraged by Clyde framework. 
     

  • Contribution:
  • Hierarchies Enhancement Project: This was an enhancement project for an existing online MQ based Java application. There was a requirement for enhancing the existing business logic to maintain the hierarchy data of agents. I was responsible for requirement gathering, designing, coding and unit testing for this project.
  • Supervisory Office Enhancement Project: This was an enhancement project which dealt with the loading of relevant information of supervisory offices from operational database Sybase to warehouse DB. This project involved use of an ETL tool Informatica. I was responsible for impact analysis, designing and testing in this project.
  • Associate Agents Contract Enhancement Project: This was an enhancement project which involved the use of Informatica. This project enhanced the data movement of particular AFR contracts. I was involved in designing and testing of this project.
  • FIDS: It is the java service which updates our operational database. I was involved in creating the mappings for comparing the data from our database and the source database to maintain data concurrency.
  • Maintenance and Support:  Apart from enhancement projects, I was a key member for the support and maintenance for the exiting services of the clients which included major applications:
  • CFIS: Consolidated Field Inquiry Service Java Application

    CFUS: Consolidated Field Update Service Java Application

    ORDB Cycle: Operational Relational Database. It was a nightly Autosys batch job, which included executing of different Informatica mappings which were used to update the Warehouse from Operational database.
