Re: Mike H.
In May of the Husky Oil Operations Ltd, Rainbow Lake District conducted a
comprehensive Turnaround. Over the course of fourteen days some Four Hundred
Contractors were on site to complete the scheduled scope of work. Just shy of ,
manhours were logged without a major incident.
Mike H. was one of two Contract Safety Supervision staff on hand for the event. As
lead of the Safety Department, it was my pleasure to have Mike on site. I found Mike to
be very professional, both in the way he ensured compliance to work rules and
procedures, and in the manner he communicated with the staff. By all reports Mike was
well received by all. It was in part, the hard work of Mike H. that contributed to the
success of the Turnaround.
I can personally recommend Mike for any Safety Supervision assignments.
Please fee! free to contact me should you require any further information.

To Whom It May Concern:
Mike H. worked for our Company as a Field Safety Coordinator from August until
June at which time the project he was working at was completed. His responsibilities
included dealing with the customer on safety Items, completing worksite inspections, pre shift
meetings, permits, statistical reports and preparation, identifying unsafe conditions and acts
and helping to remedy, fall protection plans, confined space plans, managing subcontractors,
completing action items form customer audits, etc.
During the course of his employment, Mike proved himself to be a dependable employee, and
a hard worker, with solid problem solving, and technical skills. I was impressed by Mike&;s
ability to complete the work assigned to him on time and ensuring that the all requirements
were met in regards to safety at the worksite. Mike is excellent at communicating with all
Overall, Mike is a talented, hardworking employee, and I am sad to see him leave. I strongly
recommend Mike for any Health, Safety & Environmental position.
Regional Loss Prevention Coordinator
To Whom It May Concern:
I arrived at the Devon Jackfish construction site in August as Superintendent for
Skyway Canada. This involved site preparation, manpower issues and ensuring all safety
standards were in place. There was no Skyway Canada safety officer at the time of my
arrival until September , . In the interim I met Mike H., the lead safety officer
for Universal Construction, where we attended safety meetings together.
With my limited experience in detailing safety requirements I spoke with Mike on a
number of occasions and sought his advice regarding safety issues. In particular, I
discussed with Mike the steps I would need to follow to ensure that the implementation
of our own safety program would go well. Each time we spoke, I found his advice to be
extremely helpful. In particular he advised on policy regarding "Fall Arrest and Confined
Mike&;s company was contracted by Universal Industries and responsible for safety
measures at the site but wasn&;t a direct employee of Skyway. Mike went out of his way
to check in on our progress on a regular basis which helped me ensure the proper safety
procedures were being followed. His concern for site safety, sharing information and
providing direction gave me confidence that our safety requirements were being met and
I had a more thorough understanding of our needs. Any concerns I had or clarification I
needed led me to seek his advice and he was always more than happy to assist in any way
I have come to rely on his help. His reports are detailed, precise, and in my opinion leave
no stone unturned. I have no doubt his advice will continue to be a huge benefit to me
personally and to our overall operation. I would recommend his service as a safety
officer or consultant to anyone.
To whom it may concern:
I have worked with Mike for approximately months. From April to August
. Which may not be very long but we worked as a team in the safety field while
building the Devon Canada Jackfish project. The project was at its peak manpower of
+ workers; so many challenges for the safety team were received and resolved.
I found Mike to be the consummate safety professional. His main concern was the
welfare of the workers. He is articulate and interested in each person he came in contact
with. His methods were refreshing to the standard safety culture. He brought new ideas
and new thoughts to our group. He was very passionate about safety and how it affected
the workers and their families.
Mike has a different approach to safety that seems to allow him to get the most out of the
workforce. Reporting and other paperwork is kept up to date and documentation is a
priority. Audits, assessments, inspections were completed on time. Diligent with being
the first person on site each day and the last to leave after the days work was completed
to be sure all workers were off site.
Although we never worked that long on the project, if there is an opportunity to work
with Mike again, I would gladly accept his assistance with any project in any field. I
would recommend Mike to any company wishing to have safety as their number one
