PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Jamaica:
. As head of department at my previous school in Jamaica, I initiated and along with my
team, created a business for students where students were actively involved in its
operations. The business was created in order for students to gain practical experience in
how to operate a business successfully and to help students to develop entrepreneurial
skills.
. As head of department I also supported and motivated my team and as a result, the
department had a substantial increase in CXC pass rates for subjects such as general
accounting, principles of business, office administration and ICT, when compared to
previous years when I was not the department head.
. I was also the youngest head of department and senior teacher on staff at this school and at
the beginning of my teaching career; I was one of the youngest teachers on staff. Shortly
after graduating from the same school, I joined the administrative staff; I was then
promoted and was given the opportunity to join the teaching staff as a result of my stellar
performance while I was on the administrative staff.
United Kingdom
. While in the UK, I successfully used the school’s portal to develop a series of online
educational resources in order for students to access from home as a means of
developing and improving independent learning.
. I successfully developed vocational units’ specific to the curriculum and course outline for
my use and for other members of my department.
. I was placed on the list of good to great teachers in a very chA.ging school in the UK as
a result of consistent outcome from lesson observations and student achievement.
. I have achieved % pass rate for students who completed level three of Edexcel’s BTEC
Business National Diploma in a chA.ging school.
