Jun to Present Technical Advisor / Surveyor EAGA
Responsibilities involve the technical review of customer requests for heating and insulation services and the preparation of quantitative/qualitative work schedules and costs to enable appropriate government and/or local authority grants to be awarded. Direct contact with customers in their own premises necessitates a sensitive but nevertheless professional approach at all times. High levels of accuracy and efficiency are required to satisfy personal performance targets and company objectives.
Dec to May Self Employed Gas Engineering Services Provider
Successfully managed and operated a small Gas Services business involving installation, servicing, breakdown and repair for both domestic and commercial customers. Single parent responsibilities necessitated the continuous use of other sub contractors to deliver the services, with my role being dominated by commercial and supervisory/management duties to ensure that appropriate levels of customer service, quality, safety, deliver, etc were maintained. Indeed, personal operational duties were limited to sensitive/specialist technical work. Naturally the technical sales, commercial, marketing, customer relations and people management skills learned during previous roles had to be further developed to ensure the survival of the business achieved through personal research/ study and coaching from senior management professionals within family and friends.
Oct to Dec Emergency Engineer Transco / National Grid
Performing the task of an Emergency Gas Engineer responding to internal and external gas escapes. Duties involved the classification of escapes into urgent/non urgent and identification/scoping of escapes in advance of the rectification/repair team. Marital problems meant that I had to resign this position to adapt to single parent responsibilities concerning my two resident children then aged and years.
Oct to Dec Emergency Engineer PH Jones
Subcontracted to Transco to perform the task of an Emergency Gas Engineer responding to internal and external gas escapes. Duties involved the classification of escapes into urgent/non urgent and identification/scoping of escapes in advance of the rectification/repair team. My class leading performance on this work resulted in a job offer by Transco see above.
Feb to Sep Service Supervisor Jersey Gas
My responsibities included the overseeing of conversion of appliances for use on manufactured gas, exchange of gas meters, installation, service and breakdown of gas appliances, LPG systems with changeover valves, gas emergencies and customer liaison/complaints. Supervisory responsibilities related to my role, ensured that quality, delivery, safety and service levels were maintained by engineers and that appropriate training / development programmes were organized to ensure requisite levels of competency and personal performance.
Jan to Feb Gas Engineer / Technical Sales Advisor British Gas
Gas Engineer duties were to carry out all aspects of gas work on a wide variety of appliances, operate an emergency gas service by means of a call out rota, satisfy required service standards and liaise with customers. Class leading performance on this latter area lead to me being near the top of a national table of `sales leads&; for Gas Engineers in the UK and the opportunity for an extended trial in the sales department. Unfortunately, owing to a downturn in the economy expected vacancies did not arise and I returned to the Gas Engineer role after circa months. However, this sales experience has been more than useful in subsequent roles, particularly in my self employed gas services business see above.
Dec Dec Apprentice Gas Engineer British Gas
Served a year apprenticeship in Gas Engineering NVQ Level , & by attending British Gas Training Centre in Manchester and `on the job&; training with qualified engineers.
