RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Researched, developed, and implemented a lowcost controller for torque ripple mitigation in nonsinusoidal IPMSMs using current control and voltage control using DSP. Developed and implemented a genetic algorithm based multiobjective method to model design tradeoffs in power electronics/systems using metamodeling implemented on IMs. Assisted in the development of a model predictive control method for a boost converter sourcing a constant power load sourcing a PMSM used in electric/hybrid vehicle applications. Developed and implemented a novel voltage regulator consisting of voltage and current control in PMSMs for load sharing in DC power systems using dynamic droop. Modeling and simulation of power sharing between WRSM, IM, and PMSM drives connected to a DC medium voltage bus using TCP/IP based communication. Simulated and analyzed various power electronics and their control loops using ACSL, and Matlab/Simulink. Developed Matlab based Finite Element Analysis routines to analyze electromechanical devices using Matlab. Electric machines, inductors design, and magnetic material characterization using Genetic Algorithms based methods in Matlab. Investigated and simulated control method for operation of DoublyFed Induction Generators during sudden voltage sag in windpower applications. Extensive theoretical and practical experience with phase inverters construction, operation, and control methods PWM, sinetriangle, deltahysteresis, thirdharmonic injection, etc. Simulation and analysis of HVDC distribution lines and converters using PSCAD and Simulink/Matlab.
