Developed the Global Offshore Sourcing Strategy at American Express IT Division. This “strategy roadmap” is
used to deeply engage preferred suppliers and structure the internal marketplace to govern resourcing of offshore
software development projects.
Designed and delivered an informal Outsourcing Centre of Excellence introducing innovation and industry best
practice into the IT division. Deployed a range of qualitative and quantitative tools to optimize cost and quality.
Programs such as vendor productivity initiatives, rate reduction programs, and volume rebates, were used to
influence the internal marketplace and deepen vendor relationships.
Pivotal leadership role in a highly complex supplier optimization initiative geared at renewal of offshore rates and
commercial T&Cs. This $ million decision enabled a better balance of cost and quality in offshore work, and
returned a savings of $ million annually to the company.
Architected a complex benchmarking study which demonstrated a substantial competitive disadvantage visàvis
the marketplace; leveraged this evidence to build the business case leading to $ million annual saves.
Led a feasibility study to create a joint venture technology centre in Amman, Jordan, which required directing a
worldwide group of subject matter experts from all corners of the American Express organization.
