|US Navy Vietnam Era General Medical Officer, Head of |
|department with responsibility for sailors and health needs of the |
|entire battalion. I also served on UCMJ court martial boards while in |
|the service. |
|While in private practice for years during which I trained |
|orthopedic residents, interns and medical students in Florida and |
|California. I developed a program for Emergency Medical Technician |
|Training and later for Advanced Life Support training while in KeyWest, Florida. |
|ÊI pushed through the Florida Department of Public Health the first |
|license for an ambulatory Surgical Center, which I built in Key West. |
|ÊI presented to the Hand Society my experience with immediate |
|decompression and anterior stabilization of cervical spine fracture, |
|thereby preventing quadriplegia this procedure has now become standard |
|for the major trauma centers in the US. |
|ÊIn I moved to Costa Rica where I volunteered and taught |
|residents in Orthopedics at Hospital Mexico in San Jose and have since |
|been teaching English at U Interamericana, U Latina, and the Poasito |
|Alajuela Public school. When not teaching orthopedic residents at Hospital Mexico |
|part of the Univ of Costa Rica residency program. I taught hand surgery, general |
|orthopedics and professional standards and ethics in medicine. |
|My main problem that prevents me from returning to practice in the US is that I |
|voluntarily gave up my licenses when I moved here because of the expense of |
|traveling back and forth to attend CME« courses, and pay for the required |
|malpractice insurance. |
