I began my professional career as a geologist in the oil and gas industry, progressively expanding into executive management roles within the insurance arena.  Without exception my current position included all of my career moves have been the result of a competitor in my field actively recruiting me to join their firm.  My reputation as a strong leader, developer of sales teams and achiever of personal and corporate success has opened doors to new opportunities and financial rewards. 

I am looking for a continuous challenge with a focus for growth and expansion back in the Oil and Gas Industry where I may demonstrate my creativity and strong leadership style in a sales and / or sales management position.  My developed skills are applicable and transferable to a sales leadership role in developing new markets, building growth relationships and creating an entrepreneurial business model.

I am the only child born to Thomas and Candida on September , in New Orleans, Louisiana. My father, Thomas Joseph L., Sr. was originally from Gueydan, Louisiana. My mother, Candida Montes Lopez, is originally from Matagalpa, Nicaragua. My mother's family immigrated to the United States from Nicaragua in and settled in New Orleans, Louisiana. In support of my family’s Hispanic heritage, I am fluent in Spanish. 

I am a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Geology. My first position after graduation was as a geologist working for Pennzoil Producing Company in Houston, Texas.

After moving to Houston, Texas my duties of wellsite logging operations began in the Offshore Marine Division. Following my promotion to Geologic Specialist in March , a transfer to the Gulf Coast Division in Lafayette, Louisiana found me working with a four person team analyzing producing fields.  

I realized early in my career that the focus of the oil and gas industry is a combination of science and selling thus launching my interest in sales. I am a person who quickly develops relationships and is intensely motivated by success. Selling is the lifeline of any successful company. I quickly learned that success in sales is the fastest way to monetary reward and promotion into the corporate ranks. My geological, prospecting and selling experience have been a positive asset for me, approaching opportunities from a scientific and business focused direction provides me an advantage over my competition.  
As a result of the declining oil and gas industry work environment in the late 's, friends introduced me to a State Farm Agent, who encouraged me to pursue a career in insurance. After interviewing with State Farm in Louisiana, Florida, and Texas I was appointed as an agent in Houston. I have consistently been a leader in sales whether it’s the sales person or competing manager of a sales team. I have found that over the last years the crosscultural business exposure has provided me with a unique insight in best practices. 

Insurance sales presented an excellent opportunity for me because it offered the unique combination of business building in support of the communities while providing a good living for my family. My science experience provided a strong direction in an analytical / systematic approach towards business growth and development. The combination of processes and sales enabled me to transition into an agency role providing a value added intangible service that is both exciting and rewarding. 

In , I commissioned a ground floor opportunity with State Farm. Over the course of thirteen years, through persistent marketing using costeffective methods, I successfully built the agency during a downturn in Houston’s economy. I held full P&L responsibility for the planning, development, staffing, financial affairs, and production of the agency. I defined and implemented longrange strategic plans, translated them into operational procedures, establishing and administering budgets, developing proposals, and overseeing attainment of new business development. I continuously volunteered and participated actively in various community functions and political forums to promote State Farm’s efforts in addressing various issues and its caring commitment to the local communities. As an agent, I interfaced daily with clients to determine individual needs, and formulate insurance planning strategies to meet clients’ long and shortterm objectives. As growth continued, it was my role as agency principal to conceive, develop, and administer comprehensive marketing and sales plans to develop and expand client base while servicing and upgrading existing clientele. As the result of consistent and repeatable processes, my agency revenue grew at an annual average of % over the course of my career.  

My agency experience and business growth proved valuable towards my transition into agency management.
