Project Design Engineer RailCorp Rail Industry September – Present
RailCorp operates the rail network in metropolitan areas of Sydney. RailCorp has a fleet of ,
Electric and Diesel cars which run on , km of permanent way, across bridges, through
km of tunnels with stops at stations.

• This role involves scheduling using Primavera. Important aspects involved allocation of
roles within Primavera in order to assign tasks into specific timeslots for Design review.
• Forecasting undertaken using excel.
• Engaging consultant to produce drawings which are reviewed by design reviewer
• Forward drawings to relevant stakeholders for review
• Attend site visits and meetings with Project Manager, consultant and contractor
• Arrange for consultant drawings to be updated based on stakeholder feedback
• Arrange for relevant RailCorp drawings to be updated by internal design
• Design for AC Switch House, Feeder and Transformer Alley
• Stringent requirements of Australian standards relating to substation designs, and their
construction were not met at PA SS due to updated standard. Also PA SS was built in
. I was responsible for development of a report highlighting existing fire and building
hazards and noncompliances.
• Utilisation of financial management system ARIBA for project approval and
• Discussions and investigations were initiated into potential flooding problems at Wolli
Creek. Conclusions were made which were input to the design.
• A brief was prepared for Meeks Road Substation.
• Obtained comments from stakeholders across the various RailCorp disciplineselectrical,
civil, earthing, etc
• Obtained feedback on various stages of documentation.
• Facilitate design of Sector B substations by NovoRail Alliance.
• After allocation of work orders produced monthly forecasts based on Labour costings
from Ellipse.
• Draft report for PA Substation. There were many factors at the PA SS which made it
difficult to clearly define the compliance issues. For example the Substation was built in
the s and standards today are more stringent. So in almost every situation there were
noncompliances. The report gave a Building Code assessment of the substation building
and the scope required for rectification. The outcome of the report was that fire hazards
and noncompliant buildings forced relocation of the proposed upgrade at PA SS to two
new Greenfield sites.
• Tenders for PA SS Survey received
• Wolli Creek Tender Awarded, Geotechnical site works complete, survey complete
• Identified scope for Meeks Road
• Documentation reviewed by stakeholders for programs and projects
• Preliminary Design Review % of Rooty Hill Substation is completed.

• Obtain customer feedback from clients

Engineer for United Group Infrastructure UGL has annual revenue of $Billion and activities
cover outsourced engineering asset management and property services.

This project had many aspects and the broad areas I was allocated responsibility for were:
• Installation and Commissioning Lighting and power circuits
• Coordination with Civil and Structural engineers
• Procurement of materials such as cabling and switchboards
• Preparation of overall and week look ahead programs
• Preparation of work briefs, scopes of work, and internal safety audits
Power Systems RVL
Key Responsibilities included installation of cabling to the Motorised Isolators on the RVL
project. The cabling included power supply and control wiring of about km. Achievements
included commissioning of the system and all cable installed
Tunnel Services RVL
The tunnel services involved all electrical, communication and firemain services.
About km of cable were installed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install tunnel security lighting, phones, and socket outlets
• Arrange PLC programming for control of the Lighting. Test PLC
• Install UPS for the lighting emergency backup
• Install firemain system and pump
• Lighting & CCTV in Tunnel Operational
• Firemain operational
Corinda to Darra
Key Responsibilities included procurement and installation of equipment such as pits and
conduits. Achievements included commissioning of platform lighting.
